The Way School Used to Be
Structure & Boundaries

River View Christian Academy was established in 1993 and is a fully accredited, private Christian residential boarding school. Our school is designed to educate our students in all areas of life to prepare them for their future. Our boarding school encourages students, ages 12-17, who have struggled academically due to negative influences or behavior. One of the most important aspects of redirecting a teen who is struggling is for them to be in an environment that is structured with a routine schedule that they can count on. We believe in student boundaries in all areas of life. Another reason for our success over 25 years at River View Christian Academy is the high level of staff and parent involvement. This is not just a job for the staff, it is their passion.

A Texas Boarding School & Ranch for

Struggling Teen Girls (12-17 years old)
chld-img.png

River View Christian Academy was started by a San Diego police officer who saw the need to help struggling kids where he served on patrol. He turned his life mission into helping teens who were falling through the cracks. They didn’t need the extreme help of a group home or treatment center, but did need more structure and boundaries in their life. River View was formed as a private boarding school on 45 beautiful acres near Austin, Texas. Its purpose is to provide a safe, structured, and supportive setting for struggling teenage girls, 12-17 years old. River View provides year-round schooling with ongoing open enrollment. Enroll your daughter at any time during the year and we can help her get caught up if she’s behind. Parents have often tried counseling and have done all the right things, but their teenage girl continues to head in a negative direction. As a result, they fear for her future. These issues can often be alleviated simply by removing her from the negative environment she is in and enrolling her in a special boarding school like River View, which provides 24-hour care and supervision, with strong structure, mentoring, and boundaries.

River View Students Take Responsibility
for the Ranch Garden & Animals

River View Christian Academy is located on 45 acres in the beautiful hill country of central Texas, where students are responsible for garden and animal chores, in addition to school and homework. Of course, there are fun school activities, as well as the amazing national parks in the area.

You can learn more from our asked questions

Where is River View Christian Academy Located

River View Christian Academy is located east of Austin, Texas on a beautiful 45 acre campus. Please Contact Us if you would like to schedule a tour of our campus.

Is River View an Accredited School?

River View is a fully accredited Christian school generally for ages 13 through 17. As of June, 2019 we earned our second accreditation. This accreditation is from the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), an accreditation division of AdvancED, which is now part of Cognia. Each student is evaluated upon arrival to assess where they are placed within the curriculum. River View also offers credit recovery to students who transfer behind where they should be in their grade level.

What Type of Students are Not Qualified for River View Christian Academy?

Only students who have a severe clinical issue will likely not be qualified for River View Christian Academy. As there are a variety of clinical diagnoses, there are many which will not necessarily disqualify a student from attending River View Christian Academy. Many students with certain clinical issues, who may have struggled in public or private day schools, will thrive in an environment where they are able to receive more attention, such as at River View Christian Academy. If your child has been diagnosed with a clinical condition, please Contact Us for more information on their eligibility to attend River View Christian Academy. We have a detailed profile which can help you to determine the best course of action for your student.

Does River View Christian Academy Provide Therapy/Counseling for Students?

River View Christian Academy is not a residential treatment center or therapeutic boarding school. As a private boarding school registered with the Department of Education, we do not directly provide counseling or therapy to our students. For parents or students who desire counseling or other outside services, we make it as convenient as possible for parents to schedule appointments with outside local therapists, counselors, doctors, etc. We will either provide transportation for the student to their appointment or a private space on campus for the appointment to take place.

How Long Do Students Typically Attend River View Christian Academy?

The average attendance is usually 3 semesters, depending on the overall progress of the student. It is possible for a student to finish early, but this usually does not occur due to the fact that a significant amount of time is needed for the full benefit of the school to take place. The student’s success is not based on how long they attend our school but how long they do well. A strong foundation of positive direction is critical to their ability to maintain their healthy lifestyle upon returning home, which will positively impact their educational experience.

Are Tuition Payment Options Available?

At River View Christian Academy, we are committed to helping families and will do everything we can to work with parents. We offer zero-interest loans lasting through your child’s graduation, as well as payment plans spread out over a longer period of time for qualifying parents. If necessary, River View Christian Academy parents can also work with loan companies. Parents will be provided with a list of companies, and they are required to file all the paperwork themselves. Assistance is available for parents who establish legitimate hardship or demonstrate they are in a difficult financial situation at no fault of their own. All financial applications are reviewed by the River View Christian Academy administration and granted on a case-by-case basis. The decision is at the sole discretion of the administration and based on availability of funds.
