River View Christian Academy Christian private school for troubled girls was established in 1993 and is a fully accredited, private Christian residential boarding school. Our school is designed to educate our students in all areas of life to prepare them for their future.
Our private school encourages troubled girls, ages 13-17, who have struggled academically due to negative influences or behavior. One of the most important aspects of redirecting a teen who is struggling is for them to be in an environment that is structured with a routine schedule that they can count on.
River View Christian Academy partners with Ignitia, through Alpha Omega Publications. Each student is evaluated upon arrival to assess where they are placed within the curriculum. River View also offers credit recovery to students who transfer behind where they should be in their grade level. This allows students to test out of portions of their classes to get back on track. Every student has their own computer station where they work on their individualized school program. Students only use the computers for schoolwork, with no internet access outside of schoolwork allowed. Available staff help the students with their work and provide them with individual tutoring.
As of June, 2019 we earned our second accreditation. This accreditation is from the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), an accreditation division of AdvancED, which is now part of Cognia. River View Christian High School (RVCHS) is the name used on the transcripts and is also “doing business as” (DBA) River View Christian Academy (RVCA).
If a student completes their high school diploma while at River View, they can remain in the school by continuing college level correspondence courses. We also offer dual enrollment to Juniors and Seniors with a GPA of 2.7 or higher, allowing them to take college courses for high school and college credit.
River View Christian Academy was started by a San Diego police offer who saw the need to help struggling kids where he served on patrol. He turned his life mission into helping teens who were falling through the cracks. They didn’t need the extreme help of a group home or treatment center, but did need more structure and boundaries in their life.
Safe, Structured Private School
Created as a safe, structured private school for troubled girls, our 45-acre campus (east of Austin, TX) offers teen girls (ages 13-17) their best opportunity to focus on education, avoid negative distractions and improve their thoughts and behavior for good.
At River View, we help struggling teen girls embrace a healthy outlook on life and teach them how to make good personal choices. Rather than telling them or pressuring them to act a certain way, we show students through loving redirection how to make right choices on their own. This learned skill can help them make better decisions as adults and take ownership of their actions and choices now.
We provide a high staff-to-student ratio with an individualized curriculum and program for each student. Staff members live on-campus, eat with students, tutor them, and take part in all the other student activities. This constant interaction allows staff members to build trusting relationships with teens and encourage a student’s learning and progress at River View.
River View private school for troubled girls has an open enrollment policy, meaning a student can be enrolled at the school even if they are behind in their education. River View also practices rolling enrollment, allowing students to start school at any point of the year. Also, with the year-round system that the school uses, the young student has the continuous opportunity to experience success in their education. Plus, we offer classes on: Life Skills, Business Skills, Self-Value, Leadership Training, Anger Management, Budgeting, and Animal Husbandry.
When a teen enrolls at River View Christian Academy Christian private school for troubled girls, she receives a list of activities and behaviors that have set Boundaries rules/guidelines, plus the reward, and consequence of each one. This allows the teen to know exactly what the school expects of her and see the designated reward for sticking to the rules. Staff members review the list with each teen and assign appropriate rewards or consequences on a regular basis.
River View also helps young girls restore and develop good personal character through biblically based lessons about practicing integrity, self-control, setting boundaries and accepting responsibility. We show them the right path for living a good life.
